FAQs | Inam Carpets Rawalpindi

Welcome to the Inam Carpets Help Center. Whether you are looking to purchase your first hand-knotted heirloom or tracking an online shipment, we have compiled answers to the questions our customers ask most frequently.

1. Authenticity & Quality

The easiest way to check is to flip the carpet over and look at the back. On a genuine hand-knotted rug, the design on the back will look like a slightly blurrier mirror image of the front, and you can see individual, slightly irregular knots. Additionally, the fringe on a handmade carpet is part of its foundation (the vertical warp threads) rather than being stitched or glued on as a separate strip.

Our signature Pakistani Olympia collection features an incredibly dense knot count per square inch (KPSI) using hand-spun local and New Zealand wool. These rugs are highly resilient to heavy foot traffic, feature classic, sophisticated designs, and are treated with specialized wash techniques to give them a luxurious, silky luster that deepens over time.

A machine-made rug is mass-produced in minutes using synthetic plastics like polypropylene. A standard 8×10 hand-knotted carpet requires a master artisan to manually tie three to four million individual knots over a period of 6 to 12 months. You are purchasing a unique piece of functional art made from 100% natural fibers (wool or silk) that can last for generations, rather than a synthetic product you replace every few years.

2. Shopping & Customization

Yes. We offer custom dimensions and design mapping tailored specifically to your home’s layout. Custom orders require a non-refundable [50%] deposit to initiate production with our weaving network. Please visit our Saddar showroom or contact our team via WhatsApp to discuss measurements and patterns.

We photograph all of our carpets under professional lighting to capture their accurate colors. However, because natural wool and silk reflect light differently based on the time of day, a carpet may appear slightly lighter or richer depending on the natural and ambient light inside your specific room.

4. Care & Maintenance

  • Vacuuming: Vacuum your carpet regularly to prevent dirt from settling into the fibers. Avoid using a vacuum with a heavy rotating beater bar, as it can fray the wool. Use simple suction instead.

  • Spills: If a spill occurs, blot it immediately with a clean white cloth or paper towel. Never scrub or rub aggressively, as this pushes the liquid deeper into the pile.

  • Rotation: Rotate your rug 180 degrees every 6 to 12 months to ensure even wear from foot traffic and sun exposure.

  • Deep Cleaning: We recommend having your handmade rugs professionally washed every 3 to 5 years by specialists who understand natural fiber care.
